Living GREEN
Your Home & The Environment
The Greening of America...One House at a Time.
As a REALTOR®, I see a lot of homes each and every day. Old, new; large, small; urban, rural. Some are in desperate need of updating or repair. Some have been partially or totally remodeled. Some are sparkling new. Some are sweet and inviting. And some would benefit more from a bulldozer than from repair. Among this diverse and disparate landscape of housing, there is one commonality... each and every house impacts the environment, the quality of life of its occupants and neighbors, and ultimately our community and the world.
Your House, Your Pocketbook, and the Environment. You don't have to be a radical environmentalist to appreciate the impact your house has on the quality of your life. Where you live costs you money. And it can cost you your health and the health of the environment as well. Doesn't it make sense to work with an agent who understands the impact your home choices can have on you and your family? Let's take a look at a few facts.
Air Quality: The air inside your home can be more hazardous than the air outside. That's because it's sealed in, and the newer your house the tighter the seal. Depending on the age and condition of the house, various tests may be appropriate. Through my network of professionals, you can be sure to get the answers about the air in your house. Now that should make you breathe easy!
Water: Did you know that over 60% of the power consumed in California is used to process, purify, deliver, and dispose of water! Sixty percent! The reason the utility charges so much for water is not for the water itself...it's to get it to you and take it away! Analyzing your water habits and the needs of your household allows you to make smart water use choices, reducing the amount of water needed. That reduces your monthly expense and reduces the amount of power needed by the utility.
Power: What if you had no electric bill? What could you do with that monthly savings? And what if, at the same time, you were helping to reduce green house gas emissions? Would that be something that would interest you? Having a real estate agent who understands alternative energy solutions (wind, solar), how these systems work, and when they're appropriate can save you thousands of dollars in living expenses.
It All Works Together. When you're shopping for a new home, or considering selling the one you're in, you need someone with the experience and knowledge to help you make the best decisions possible. A house is a complex equation of aesthetics, expenses, and dreams...and the choices you make can make your life, and the environment, a little better.
